[ Somehow suddenly sending a message makes him a little unsure. But he really does have better luck talking through text than in person so. ]
The future has been something I wondered on, like I'd we were able to understand ourselves and those not quite like us easier. If we would be able to be sympathetic to those that may not seem like they warrant or deserve it. πππ±
While you may not be from my future, I just wanted to say that I feel relieved that you are part of someone's future and that it seems relatively bright from someone who is from the past. π₯°π
Thank you. π
[ Really. He wonders if Kirk is doing all right and is okay. But instead of asking invasive questions like that, he thinks telling him something positive is better. Probably... ah. Phew... ]
(if the emoji haven't killed him, the message certainly does.
the thank-you blends with yashiki's high praise to form a message so thoughtful that for a moment kirk wonders if it's meant for someone else. he doesn't lack confidence, able to detachedly judge his own actions to find they're all things a moral man would do, but to make such an impact on a new acquaintanceβno, a new friendβis astonishing.)
We, as humans, may evolve gradually, but our paths to change always begin with individuals as compassionate and as forward-minded as yourself.
Thank you so very much for your kind words; I won't forget them.
People find it difficult to understand them. [ No. ] But they aren't that difficult to understand. Human beings too can sometimes let their emotions drive them to do terrible things.
So, isn't it just being unwilling to understand them rather than find it difficult?
It may be the marriage of the two. Ignorance can prevent others from seeking understanding and common ground, but I believe there's a unignorable fear factor when dealing with the unknown that most overlook in themselves.
Fear is important because it keeps us alive. Too much of it, however, and we close ourselves off to better solutions. Perhaps you've managed to overcome fear where others have failed, and being able to strike that balance enables you to communicate with greater ease.
Have you ever met a spirit you weren't able to understand?
Well, to be honest, when they exhibit such high levels of anger and desire to kill, I can't help but be terrified of what they'll do. But I'm not scared of them. I wonder if that makes sense.
[ But a spirit that he isn't able to understand? Immediately, he thinks about Mary. But isn't it because he didn't take more time to understand her? ]
I have, but that was my own failing. I didn't work on trying to meet them in any way.
I understand. It's not yourself you're worried about, it's the people around you.
Spirits and curses must come from somewhere. Strong residual feelings like regret, or other such things. I can't imagine it's easy to meet them, or understand what they want.
I'm afraid that it isn't. But I know you'd also try to understand them if you came across one. They really are just hurting and unable to know what to do with all the pain that they are in.
It's finding the means to settle their grudge and resentment toward the living. Sometimes, it's listening to what they have to say. Sometimes, it's showing them that there is something waiting for them on the other side. It varies from spirit to spirit, but you're right that it's mostly listening to their story to know what it is that they need.
It's an important duty, Mr. Yashiki, and an honourable one. There aren't many individuals who could or would dedicate their lives to pacifying the souls of the dead.
[ How did this happen? He wanted to say nice things to Kirk and ended up being complimented. Ah... but at least, he feels like he's getting used to this whole texting things. How nice to be able to just send nice messages to people that he likes. ]
You, too. I'm happy that you have things that you believe in, as well.

When you talk about someone not quite like you, or someone who may not normally warrant/deserve sympathy from others, who do you think of?
no subject
Spirits and cursed objects. Entities that are filled with grudges and anger.

About the lifestyle? No. I don't have any regrets about that at all.

Let's grab a coffee sometime, and a bite to eat. What do you say?
